Georgia to Host the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV) World Congress in 2027.

Based on a decision adopted at the spring session of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV), currently held in Dijon, France, Georgia will host the OIV World Congress in 2027.

Georgia officially submitted its application to host the 2027 OIV World Congress in 2025.

The spring session of the OIV is attended by Levan Mekhuzla, Chairman of the National Wine Agency.

“OIV is the most important organization in the field of viticulture and winemaking. This decision once again highlights Georgia’s role on the global wine-culture map, confirming that it is one of the most significant wine-producing countries. Ultimately, this will contribute to the promotion of Georgian wine and strengthen its position in the global market,” stated Levan Mekhuzla.

It is noteworthy that Georgia has already hosted OIV international-level events twice — the 33rd International Congress in 1962 and the 8th General Assembly of the organization in 2010.

The International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) is an intergovernmental organization comprising 51 member countries, including Georgia. The organization’s activities include developing recommendations in the field of viticulture and winemaking among member states, improving wine production and grape processing practices, as well as establishing and advancing international standards.
