Slightly improved, the structural sizes of the Greek vineyard of wine-making varieties in 2023 are presented, compared to 2015, years for which KEOSOE processed the sizes by area range and number of producers.
It should be noted that in the period between 2015 and 2023, Planting Permits were granted for an area of 43,383.8 hectares, which contributed to a small extent to improving the image of fragmentation that the Greek vineyard continues to display, given that the Planting Permits were mainly directed to the holders of existing vineyards and not to new beneficiaries, since the weighting of the criterion of the increase of land is still significant (0.35 in the total weighting of criteria per unit).
Small rise in the average national area per producer from 3.95% sq./par. (2015) to 4.11 sq./par. (2023), the Region of Attica still shows the highest average with 8.15 acres per producer (2015: 8.28 11 acres/par.)
The majority of the Regions show, at least a slight increase in the average area per producer, except for Attica, W. Greece, S. Aegean, the Ionian Islands and Crete
Reduction in the number of producers between 2015 (155,560) and 2023 (148,218) by 7,362 natural persons
Up to 10 acres are owned by 91.29% of producers, whose total area represents 49.78% of the country's total area
Up to 20 acres are owned by 96.74% of the producers, whose total area represents 67.74% of the country's total areas
The Regions of Epirus, Crete and the Ionian Islands show, in order, relatively greater fragmentation, which, among other things, indicates that the cultivation of the vine has a complementary character. The same applies to stratification up to 10 acres or even 20 acres and for the rest of the Regions.
The Regions of Attica, Central Macedonia and Upper Macedonia and Thrace present the relatively best picture of stratification.
The Region of Thessaly presents the best picture in the area range of 30-50 acres, in which 2.47% of the producers own 15.53% of the areas, while the Regions of St. Greece and Attica
From the processing of the sizes, the conclusion is also drawn, of the necessity of implementing policies related to inheritance law, the creation of a land bank, land uses and reclamation.
