The Italian Wine Association has awarded the prestigious award to the Pavia Territory in the sign of a territorial development guided by the sector vitivinicolo and wine tourism.
To win the "Vinarius al territorio" award, now in its ninth edition, is the Territorio Pavese. This was announced today 16 January by President Vinarius, Andrea Terraneo, during the ceremony held in the evocative setting of the Sala Caduti di Nassirya of Palazzo Madama in Rome during which the Vice President of the Senate Gian Marco Centinaio also spoke. Every two years Vinarius (Associazione delle Enoteche Italiane) selects an Italian territory in which there is a strong wine vocation, an important agri-food basket but also a great attention to issues related to environmental sustainability, the enhancement of traditions, history and wine tourism hospitality.

"Receiving this prestigious award for the 'know-how' of our territory - says the Extraordinary Commissioner of the Chamber of Commerce of Pavia Giovanni Merlino - is a great honor and it is a source of pride that it is awarded by companies that daily play a role of ambassadors of the territories through the story of wine as a factor of attractiveness and hospitality. The merit is of our producers and of all the companies involved in an agricultural, manufacturing and commercial supply chain that sees in the Oltrepò Phad its natural roots. A great opportunity for local operators and for associations and institutions who have the responsibility to work together so that the quality of the wines of the Oltrep ò represents a brand for the whole territory of the province of Pavia".
"The Pavia Territory is a true example of how the combination of wine and wine tourism can become the key to discovering a territory and its history, for this reason we are not only happy to have awarded this prize – explains Andrea Terraneo, President of Vinarius – but also extremely ornorati to have conferred it inside the Senate building, a sign of how the wine sector is increasingly at the center of dialogue between institutions and exponents of a truly leading sector in Italy".

"For me it is a double pleasure to host this ceremony at Palazzo Madama – adds Gian Marco Centinaio, Vice President of the Senate – because it contributes to opening such a solemn place to those who work every day to enhance the Italian wine heritage, but also for the pride I feel in seeing my territory rewarded . The convergence between the food and wine sector and tourism can give a great boost to the economy of Pavia, as to that of so many and other areas of Italy, and this recognition is the demonstration that you are already on the right track".
"Thank you from our wonderful territory that aspires to be more and more sustainable smiling and passionate, this is an award that honors us." Said the president of the Consortium for the Protection of Oltrepò Pavese wines Gilda Fugazza.
A territory rich in history, art, culinary traditions that of Pavia and characterized by entrepreneurial and artisan know-how, with about 58,000 companies in the province.
