The samples were tasted and evaluated by a 25-member jury, qualified wine experts, oenologists, WSET Diploma holders, sommelier, head sommelier, as well as wine journalists. The jury members were divided into 5 different tables.
The chairmen of the 5 individual tables-judges' committees were masters of wine Heidi Makinen, Jonas Rojerman, Justin Martindale and master sommelier Montone Matteo, while the chairman of the committee that also judged spirits was Andreas Mattheidis, DipWSET and president of the Association of Greek Sommeliers

President of the Competition, master of wine Konstantinos Lazarakis MW, an outstanding personality of the world wine scene.
The award ceremony of the Competition to the wineries and distilleries whose samples won medals took place on Friday 27 May in Athens.

This event is particularly dear and popular among the Greek producers and is considered the occasion for their annual meeting, in a festive atmosphere where they participate with their families and partners, together with the organizing committee and the sponsors-supporters of the competition.

As usual, the award ceremony is inaugurated by the presentation of the "Greek Wine Industry Award" on behalf of all Greek winemakers, to a personality who has contributed to the dissemination of knowledge and information about Greek wine abroad.

In 2022, the "Greek Wine Industry Award" was offered to the internationally renowned wine critic Mark Squires, head of Greek tastings for Wine Advocate, a leading wine personality at a global level, one of the key opinion leaders of the global wine market.

With the "family" commemorative photo of all the award-winning winemakers and distillers and the party that institutionally follows, the lights of the annual competition are turned off.
The baton is then passed to the award-winning wines and spirits themselves, who now carry the sticker medal they have won from the Competition on their bottles, thus claiming the choice of the consumer public in the domestic market and abroad, since they travel to all corners of the globe.

For 22 years, the competition. has established a remarkable profile that combines expertise with years of experience and the aim of continuous development.
It is a strong wine institution that is yet another proof of the tremendous growth of Greek wine in recent years, in Greece and abroad.

It is also supported by all the sector's bodies and wine producers' associations in Greece, a fact that confirms its value.
