Allwinestories, the media partner of Greek Wine Day 2025 for Greece, presents a unique event.
Santorini Vinsanto PDO and Chianti Classico Vin Santo DOC share a tasting table for the first time at Greek Wine Day 2025 in Florence.

The Vinsanto POD of Santorini, presented by six wineries, will be showcased for the very first time alongside Chianti Classico Vin Santo DOC during Greek Wine Day 2025 in Florence.
The idea was born in a discussion between Greek Wine Day’s organizer, Haris Papandreou, and the Director of Chianti Classico, Ms. Carlotta Gori, at the Consorzio headquarters, following a prior visit of the Wines of Crete Board of Directors.
At the end of their meeting, while discussing Vin Santo, Ms. Gori highlighted the importance of hosting a joint presentation of Chianti Classico's Vin Santo DOC and Santorini’s Vinsanto PDO during a future wine event. The proposal was made to hold this symbolic tasting at Greek Wine Day 2025, which will take place in Florence on November 1στ

Florence is not only the city where Santorini wine was first mentioned in 1439 during the Council of Florence between Catholics and Orthodox, but also the birthplace of Greek Wine Day, launched there five years ago.
This event carries special value, highlighting the deep cultural ties between Italy and Greece through wine since antiquity. As early as the 8th century BC, the Greeks introduced vine cultivation to Magna Graecia, laying the foundations of Italy’s winemaking tradition. Our two nations have shared myths, rituals, and production techniques, jointly contributing to the spread of wine throughout the Mediterranean and enriching each other’s culture. Even today, many Italian grape varieties and winemaking traditions still reflect this historical heritage.
