Following the semi-final, held online on March 28th, the Jury chaired by Stefano Caffarri carefully evaluated the tests received, and finally we can reveal the 6 finalists of the Best Enotecario d'Italia 2023 Competition!

Here is the list of finalists in alphabetical order, three for the classic bottle category and three for the category of public establishments specialized in wine and spirits pouring:

The final will take place in Rome, in presence, on May 29th, decreeing the Best Enotecario d'Italia 2023 for each of the two categories, the Best Enotecario d'Italia UNDER 30 and the Migliore Enotecario d'Italia abroad.

 About AEPI – Association of Italian Professional Wine Shops

Acronym for Associazione Enotecari Professionisti Italiani is the association of those who in various capacities operate in the world of wine exercising the profession of consultants, experts, organizers of events, tasting courses, editors of wine lists, in the role of wine merchants, as experts specialized in the field of wine, alcoholic products and spirits. They therefore operate for wine bars, shops specialized in the selection, proposal and sale of wines, other alcoholic products and spirits of quality, for restaurants where wine, other alcoholic products and quality spirits have an important role, for wine cellars, wine bars, taverns, public establishments specialized in the proposal, pouring and service of wines, other alcoholic products and quality spirits, or as freelancers for advice, appraisals, wine services, other alcoholic products and quality spirits. Finally, they deal with dissemination and communication in order to increase the culture of wine by teaching the basics for a correct proposition of the product.


The Professional Wine Shops have high knowledge of wine, other spirits and spirits, have notions of viticulture and oenology, cellar practices and have skills and training in the field of tasting products, have gained experience both in the ability to choose and in the ability to propose, have knowledge of the world of catering and gastronomy, They have an aptitude for communicating with competence and willingness to dialogue, demonstrate sobriety and seriousness in expressiveness and great attention to the needs of the consumer. They are constantly updated, pay particular attention to relations with the world of production, and maintain equidistance between new trends, often fashionable and therefore harmful, and the roots of tradition, aware that this is fundamental but not immobile. They treat the subject of alcoholism with the utmost seriousness, they know the damage it causes, they fight it with culture, a sense of proportion and respect for the consumer, especially if they are young. They are active in consumer education, believing that the culture of drinking is the basis of proper nutrition and an ideal psychophysical well-being. AEPI members are proud to follow the requirements of LAW 14 January 2013, n. 4 which regulates professions not organized in orders and colleges, with particular reference to consumer protection, activating the reference desk for consumer citizens and adopting the code of ethics whose compliance is mandatory for each member.
