The history of the competition

The Concours Mondial des Feminalise (also known as Féminalise) is a wine competition held in France that focuses exclusively on the women's sector of the global wine market.

Féminalise is a powerful concept

With 25 years of experience as a wine competition organizer, founder Didier Martin saw the economic impact of women in the wine world and their importance in the evolution of the industry. He had this original idea to create the Concours des Féminalise in 2007, and in 2015 the competition went global. The wines are tasted exclusively by experienced professionals and women with expertise in wine judging.

The competition celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2021 with 5246 wines and 800 judges.

Great novelty 2022: the competition opens to the spirits category!

The success of this competition, which has become unavoidable, is both indicative of the feminization of a sector historically dominated by men and the change in consumer profile.

Optimal Taasting Conditions

  • Tasters are selected from the wine industry on the basis of their abilities to taste and evaluate wines/spirits.
  • All wines/spirits are blind-tasted, served by the glass, at the right temperature by qualified servers.
  • Each wine/spirit is tasted by three women seated at tables placed far apart from each other. No commentary or influence is possible between the tasters.
  • Each wine/spirit is evaluated following a tasting sheet with 39 control points.
  • In case of flawed wine/spirit, a spare bottle will be served at right temperature to the tasters.
  • The organizers are extremely careful about the tasting order of entries so as to ensure the best results.

A Feminalise medal is a guarantee of the quality

All wines are blind-tasted. Each sample is tasted by 3 women seated at tables placed apart from each other, with no influence being possible between each other. This unique organization generates conclusive results.
