Greek Wine Day 2025 s coming on Saturday, November 1, with a world premiere. A unique tasting experience.
Eight wineries from Santorini and ten wineries from Chianti Classico will present the elegant sweet wines Vinsanto & Vin Santo to wine professionals and Italian wine lovers.
Before you go to the exhibition, read and find the differences. Do they have them or not? The answer will be given on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Hotel Albani Firenze
Santorini’s Vinsanto (note the single “n”) comes from one of the most intersting wine regions in the world. Made mainly from Assyrtiko, sometimes blended with Aidani and Athiri, the grapes are laid out to dry in the sun before fermenting and aging in oak barrels.
A sweet, amber wine bursting with dried apricots, honey, caramel, and spice, yet always lifted by that signature Assyrtiko acidity and salty minerality.

Vin Santo Chianti Classico: Tuscany’s Holy Wine
Over in Tuscany, Vin Santo (two words this time) has a long and almost mystical history — the “holy wine” once used in church ceremonies and family celebrations. In the Chianti Classico region, it’s made from Trebbiano and Malvasia, with the grapes dried for months in attics before slowly fermenting in small wooden casks.
The wine is then aged for years, developing deep golden to amber tones, and flavors of dried fruit, almonds, and toffee. It’s smooth, nutty, and warming — perfect with cantucci (Tuscan almond biscuits) or just for sipping by the fire.
Same Sun, Different Soul
Both wines celebrate the magic of the sun — concentrating sweetness, deepening flavor, and connecting modern drinkers to ancient traditions. But where Vinsanto Santorini shines with energy and freshness, Vin Santo Chianti Classico wraps you in cozy, oxidative warmth.
